SOZIOTOP - A COLLECTION OF URBAN PHENOMENA WWW.SOZIOTOP-BERLIN.COM Soziotop is a catalogue of collected and categorized urban phenomenas in Berlin. The intention is to expand the series onto other cities... The basic idea is that this little phenomenas characterize a city without being flashy...you see them every day but you don-t percept them consciously. They tell more about a city than public accepted touristy places. Berlin Berlin as a formerly divided city recovers a lot of them... The city changes a lot since the reunion of eastern and western parts. Although there is not enough money to transform it into a big capitalistic monument. It still has got the old charme of a western-island-city and the undergroundy GDR-Capital. It-s an adventure for visual hunters of soziological, cultural and architectural phenomena. The disruption of governmental megalomaniac architecture and privat anarcho-self-construction you can still see in every part of the city. These "urban spaces" change permanently. And thus do cultural and political movements. The chosen categories are of course subjectiv, it-s a personal collection with a big focus on street art. The collection shows public space in time. And therefore the development of this beautiful place, berlin. Soziotop is a work in progress and needs to be continued.
